Members and Invitations

The Members page (Settings, then Members) lists everyone with access to the organization, along with their role and status. From here, owners and admins invite new people, change roles, and remove members.

Inviting a member

Choose Invite member and:

  1. Pick a role for the invitee. Hover any role to see what it grants, or read Roles and permissions.
  2. Optionally enter an email so Surplus emails the invitation for you.
  3. Choose when the invite expires (1, 3, 7, or 30 days).

You get a one-time invite link and token. They are shown only once, so copy and share them right away. If you entered an email, the same link is emailed to that address.

Inviting requires the members permission (owner or admin), and you can only invite someone at a role at or below your own.

Accepting an invitation

The invitee opens the invite link and signs in (or creates an account). They then choose Accept invitation and immediately join the organization with the role set on the invite. Invitations are single-use: a link stops working once it has been accepted or has expired.

Changing a member's role

Pick a new role from the member's role dropdown; the change takes effect immediately. You can only assign roles at or below your own, and only an owner can change another owner's role. See Roles and permissions.

Removing a member

Choose Remove next to a member and confirm. They lose access to the organization right away. Removing requires the members permission. The last owner cannot be removed, and only an owner can remove another owner.
